RoT v0.2


Hi everyone, the first major update ( at least for me ) is here! This detailed devlog is here to help you beat the demo, specially in hard mode.


There are 3 brand new levels to play, making a total of 8 levels for the demo ( new levels are now level 3, 5 and 7 ). You will also encounter two new types of enemies: one of them is an armored reptile that shoots medium-sized projectiles directly at you. These projectiles can get through platforms, so don't look for cover and go straight kill them before they do, even though they shoot at a quite slow pace, their projectiles can be deadly when they're in numbers. The second enemy is a "flying spike" that will attack you by diving directly on you from the air. Watch their angle of attack and range in order not to be surprised when they switch to attack mode!

Hard mode has been reprocessed a bit and should be now slightly easier than before. In this mode, all damages have been slightly reduced. Health pickups are more frequent too. Knockbacks when you get hit have been greatly reduced in order to prevent you from falling easily off a platform during the platforming phases, but it won't prevent you from being hit mid-air between two platforms! Falling off the screen is still instant death in hard mode!

When you get stunned by a poisonous enemy, you're immune to stun effects for a little while after the initial stun effect stops. You can also destroy projectiles shot by the wasps (poisonous or not) and by the static shooting plants by attacking the projectile on the right timing ( Aria's attack hitbox should hit the projectile itself to do so ).

Special ability: Your special abilty now resets at the start of every level. It also clears ALL projectiles on the screen when you use it. You also have invincibility frames for 1 second from the moment you press the ability button when it is available.

Misc: Controller is now supported, but is still in test! It will work only during the game phases, that means you'll have to use your keyboard to navigate menus. You don't have to setup anything in the options in order to make your controller work, and changing the keyboard setting options will not influence the controller. You can't bind keys for the controller for now. Controller inputs: Arrows to move ( not the sticks ), A to jump, X to attack, B to use special attack.

Aria's sprites have ALL been refined with a little shadowing. This took me hours of work for little change, but it feels now better on the screen for attentive eyes. She also have 13 brand new voice lines available in-game! Check her voice actress here: https://twitter.com/GinaGaloreVA

A new soundtrack has been implemented for the boss level in order to wake you up a bit.

Various sound were added to enemies and various backgrounds have been slightly refined.
